Regional Climate Simulation Ensembles within CORDEX-EA Framework over the Loess Plateau: Evaluation and Future Projections

چکیده
As a semi-arid to semi-humid transitional zone, the Loess Plateau is sensitive climate change due its fragile ecological environment and geographic features. This study assesses performance of six historical experiments from Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) in this region during 1980–2005. In addition, projected future changes surface air temperature precipitation are investigated under representative concentration pathways (RCP) 2.6 8.5 three periods 21st century: early (2011–2040), middle (2041–2070), late (2071–2099). Results show that reasonably reproduce spatial pattern 2m for all seasons, yet with slight warm bias prominent wet bias. future, area-averaged magnitude will be 1.1 °C, 1.4 °C RCP2.6 1.3 2.7 4.5 RCP8.5 early, middle, periods, respectively. The warming effect greater elevated areas. Precipitation more complex, both increasing decreasing trends, depending on season, location, scenario. results expected provide regional information decision makers benefit applications such as agriculture, protection, water resource management.

متن کاملObservation-based Blended Projections from Ensembles of Regional Climate Models
We consider the problem of projecting future climate from ensembles of regional climate model (RCM) simulations using results from the North American Regional Climate Change Assessment Program (NARCCAP). To this end, we develop a hierarchical Bayesian space-time model that quantifies the discrepancies between different members of an ensemble of RCMs corresponding to present day conditions, and ...
متن کاملCORDEX – An international climate downscaling initiative
The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) is backing an international initiative called the COordinated Regional climate Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX). The goal of the initiative is to provide regionally downscaled climate projections for most land regions of the globe, as a compliment to the global climate model projections performed within the fifth Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (...
متن کاملAddressing climate information needs at the regional level : the CORDEX framework
The need for climate change information at the regional-to-local scale is one of the central issues within the global change debate. Such information is necessary in order to assess the impacts of climate change on human and natural systems and to develop suitable adaptation and mitigation strategies at the national level. The end-user and policy-making communities have long sought reliable reg...
متن کاملEvaluation and future projections of temperature, precipitation and wind extremes over Europe in an ensemble of regional climate simulations
Temperature, precipitation and wind extremes over Europe are examined in an ensemble of RCA3 regional climate model simulations driven by six different global climate models (ECHAM5, CCSM3, HadCM3, CNRM, BCM and IPSL) under the SRES A1B emission scenario. The extremes are expressed in terms of the 20-yr return values of annual temperature and wind extremes and seasonal precipitation extremes. T...
